Vacuum technology
Dry Screw
Dry, deep, process-tolerant.
Schematic section, not to scale
How it works
Dry screw vacuum pumps use two intermeshing screw rotors that compress gas along their length without oil in the pumping chamber. They handle vapours and process gases well and reach medium vacuum without contamination.
Two screws turn in opposite directions with fine clearances. Gas trapped between the threads is carried from inlet to outlet, where it is discharged.

Advantages & tradeoffs
- Dry pumping chamber
- Tolerates condensables and many process gases
- Deep vacuum without oil contamination
- Higher capital cost
- Temperature management matters
- Process deposits may require purging or cleaning
Best applications
Common in Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Chemical, Oil + Gas.
Maintenance
Gear and bearing lubrication service, cooling checks, periodic internal inspection for process deposits.
